Frog and Toad Wardrobe!

Not quite the same stripe, but still, not too shabby.

I did it!!!!!! I finally found a some random items in my closet with which to replicate Frog and Toad's wonderfully quirky get-ups!

The first attempt ended up being a reversal of Toad's colors, with a green shirt and mustard sweater combination instead of the other way around. But I dug a little deeper in the closet and found two items I got at a thrift store a while back and have actually never worn before. WEEEEE! Finally, a justified buy!

Sadly you can't see the pattern on either pair of pants very well. Toad's are hounds tooth and my pants are plaid with a hounds tooth worked into some of the cross sections. Frog's pants are awesome multi-color stripes but all I had was the beige/white striped ones. Oh well, I'm just surprised I was able to match as close as this.

Sigh...I love these books. The story about them eating cookies and continuously saying, "we're going to get sick, OK, just one more then we're done" yikes! A little too close to home! ;-)

I hope you've had a lovely Mother's Day everyone! My poor mum has the stomach flu....it's worked out way through the entire family in the last couple weeks and then finally hit her on Mum's Day. Oh, the irony. After spending the day with The Mr.'s family we stopped by my parent's and gave my mom the flowers I'm going to plant in her front yard. (Should have gotten a pic, they are stunning!)

As it is Mother's Day I will leave you with this....wash your hands, get enough sleep! There is a nasty stomach bug going around and you're going to get it if you don't take care of yourself properly! So there, you take that mothering and you put it to good use!

Sounds like you had a good Mother's Day. That is unfortunate about your mom getting stomach flu. :/ I hope you do take a picture of the flowers you gave her.

I like where you got your inspiration. The outfits are super cute! I don't remember the last time I read Frog and Toad, but I will have to go the library and check it out. I heard that there was a musical based on the books.

Stephanie, A MUSICAL!?!?!?!!? Oh my goodness! I bet it's captivating! I love those books. Seriously, I just about cried the day I saw the little stuffed versions of Frog and Toad. Too whimsical!!!

Kate, EEEEE! That would be the best job ever!

I've already planned another outfit based on another children's book character. Just you wait!!!! Mwahahah!

Thanks Sarah Lynn!!! I'm having a blast with it and trying to come up with some more ideas. I'm going to try (fingers crossed) to have on kids book character every day this week. Doh! I should have split Frog and Toad up, because I don't have quite enough characters at the moment.

Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Ahhh I know I just commented on a more recent post but I'm loving this feature more and more as I go through the archives. So, so awesome. I want to feature you on my blog sometime this week, if you don't mind! I'm a huge bibliophile and a fashion lover too, so I'm obsessed with this intersection you've created of literature and style. Fabulous.

YES PLEASE! I'm so excited! That would be lovely!!!! Let me know when you do!

Thank you so much, it's so exciting to know that people are actually reading my blog these days. It's been a year ago today that I started (Weird, I just realized that! Crazy!) and I just hit 30 followers today, not that I'm doing this for "followers" but it was getting lonely there for a while. :-)

Thanks for the encouragement!
