Seeing as The Mister works two jobs a day, we seldom get a chance to eat lunch together. I mean we can grab a bite together here and there, but it's always so rushed (sad face) but the other day he had a larger than usual gap between jobs and we managed to sqeeze in a 4pm lunch before he had to run off to the next place of employment. (Hard working, adorable man that he is) I made grilled cheese sandwiches out of home-made sour dough and Trader Joe's Raw Cheddar. The sandwiches were accompanied by artichoke/spaghetti squash soup and avocado, red onions, and raw-cultured (they hold out their pinkies when they drink tea...hee hee) pickles.
The Mr. also bought me a lavender plant to accompany the flowers he bought me at the farmer's market a couple days early. Perfection.
The view out the window is at someone's yard....can you imagine? Having a yard of your own! Someday!!!!!
It was a lovely little moment in the middle of a typically busy day of laundry and various housely annoyances.
Oh, and look at the awesome salt and pepper shakers I found!!! Le, Siiiiiigh.

These photos are lovely, the food sounds AMAZING as does anything you make, and I am so happy you 2 had some time together!
It was delicious! Though I was entirely out of basil...and it needed it. I'm going to make some more soon, I'll have to let you try some. It's sooo good and a super easy recipe. I just added the spaghetti squash because it seemed like it would beef the soup up a bit.
Mmmm. I love food.
What a sweet sweet post!! And I must agree, the food looks and SOUNDS delish!! Do you mind sharing the recipe for the soup? And oh my goodness, how CUTE are those S&P shakers?!
p.s. I tumbl'd you! :)
Come see!
Pray tell, what does tumbl'd mean??? It sounds harrowing yet adventurous!
I would LOVE to share the recipe.
1 Tblspoon chicken broth or olive oil
1 small onion minced
4 garlic cloves minced
1 14 oz. can artichokes drained and chopped
2 cups broth or stock
1/2 tsp. dried parsley
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. dried oregano
salt to taste
cayenne to taste (optional)
fresh lemon juice to taste (optional)
1. Heat Tblspoon broth or oil in stockpot over med. heat
2. Saute the onion and garlic till translucent (be careful garlic burns easily)
3. Stir in artichokes, broth, herbs and spices.
4. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. (I did 20 and it was fine)
that is the recipe but you can do lots of variations. I added about half a can of coconut milk and a couple Tblspoons of cream for added creaminess, spaghetti squash for a heartier soup and spinach for more nutrition. Next time I want to try sauteing mushrooms and zucchini with the garlic and onions. Basically, if you can find it in an Italian dish, I say throw it in!It's fun to tweak it to your own preference.
ENJOY!!!!
ps. Salt and pepper shakers were at Michael's of all places. Random.
yum, yum, YUM!! I can't wait to try it out, I am always hungry and always excited for new recipes to try but ESPECIALLY recipes that involve artichoke hearts & garlic! Woo!
Oh and tumbling has to do with Tumblr :) It's my little mini blog of inspiration/things that make me smile or say YUM haha!
