Ah Yosemite!!!

The Mr. and The Kidlet

Yes, my face may be scary, but so are these dolls....made worse by the fact that there are two of them....what are the odds?

my boys.

The Kidlet

I cannot even tell you how much I adore this picture.

I forgot how plump he was! He lost so much weight after having the stomach flu. Here he looks like a baby, now he looks like a kid. :-(

Us (Sing the Body) practicing with Garage Voice.

So I know I post about the band Garage Voice a lot...but in my opinion I cannot say enough. They are not only beautiful talented musicians but they are beautiful people as well. Their hearts make me want to cry and laugh at the same time. Just lovely people, you know those people, he ones that just make things lovelier by being?

Well anyway, one of the fellows that isn't technically in the band but plays with them from time to time, is also an amazing photographer. In the words of Will Ferrel as Robert Goulet "do yourself a friggin service" and check his stuff out here. Michael Porter is a doll and a half and we can't wait for him to come visit us in September. Seriously, look at how amazing all these photos are!?!?! You will never again be content with my pitiful photos after enjoying all the photos above.

Lovely!

To see more of his pics from the Garage Voice tour go here!

And have a lovely day.

PS. I will be getting back to the kids book outfits ASAP. Don't worry, not done yet.

What Book Have We Today?

Hat: UO Clearance
Dress: Neighbor's moving away yard sale
Apron: Thrift store
Shoes: UO Clearance

Ok, so she has a full apron and pink flowers on her hat, she has a blue purse and mine is red and she's carrying a pie and today I'm making gluten-free sourdough pizza but that is still a pie...ish...

other than that I'm pretty pleased with the relative accuracy of the outfit.

I loooved her books as a kid!!!

Here are your hints,
four things I remember from her stories.

1: She was asked to prune the shrubs.....so she took a box of prunes and stuck them on every twig.

2. She was asked to draw the curtains....her sketch of them was quite accurate.

3. She was told to dress the chicken for dinner....the outfit she picked out for it was adorable.

4. She was told to dust the house.....by the time she was done with it every surface was covered in dirt.

Got it yet?

Ah Amelia...how I still love that name.

BEEEHOLD!

What Classic Children's Book Today?

Top: Target clearance
Pants: Old Navy clearance
Socks: ???
Shoes: UO clearance
Sweater: Thrift store
Hats: Various, mostly UO clearance or thrift stores
Bow: Thrift store

So I mixed it up a bit and came up with two different outfits inspired by the same book. The one below is a bit more dressy than the one above. I realized after I loaded all the pics that I forgot to take the below pics with the tuxedo jacket I had...I don't feel like starting over because I'd have to delete some pics for them to be in the right order and then reload and I am, admittedly, just plain lazy....so picture the below outfit with a woman's tuxedo jacket thrown into the mix. Again, Menswear for women. I love it.

Top: Thrift store
Pants: H&M
Tux Jacket I forgot to wear: Thrift store

Soooo, did you guess it? It was another one of my favorite books when I was a kid and I'm fairly certain they used to read it on Reading Rainbow.

Goodness gracious, butterflies in the sky, I love that show.

I CAN GO TWICE AS HIIIIIGH! TAKE A LOOK IT'S IN A BOOK, A REEEEADING RAINBOOOWWWW!

Etc.

Sooo, do you have it? Perhaps no one else knows this book...

I hope I'm not alone.

Here's a hint..in a couple of the above pics my little monkey stole my hats....

Ring any bells?

VOILA!

I hope this brings you fond memories as much as it does me.

Lovies and Lemons,

-K

PS. The Kidlet went swimming today and got a hair cut...he just woke up from his after swim nap. I want to squeeze his little face he is so precious. *sniff sniff* He just pooped...gotta go.

Missed it.

So I missed getting a picture today. It's was a rough one. Seriously bad allergies, I think I actually did physical damage to my eyes because I scratched them so hard....hard time breathing and such and pathetically cried because I thought I was in so much pain....

then I had it all put into perspective upon finding out a dear friend lost her baby last week. No complications....it's heart just stopped. They don't know why.

She was full term.

My physical discomfort is nothing compared to that. I literally hate my self-centeredness.

~~~~~~~~
I don't know what to say. I just keep crying and wanting to call her but can't stop crying long enough to make the call actually happen.
If you share my spiritual beliefs, please be praying for her and her husband. I can only imagine the pain and I know I'm nowhere close to the reality of that pain.
I just wish I could help her...I just don't know how...other than prayer.
sigh
Who, What, When, Where?
Dress: Yard sale (one of the things I bought from the moving neighbor)
Collar: Thrifted Doily
Socks: Target
Shoes: UO clearance
So, it comes off a little Hot Topic-ish when translated onto a human, but I still like it and would wear it comfortably (aside from it being wool and kind of itchy) I again added the doily as a collar to make it a bit more accurate to the character as well as the black bow but the pictures don't show them very well....
So, do you know who it is?
DO YOU!?!?!!?
It's not a book I grew up with so I don't know if it's considered "classic" just yet, but it's fairly popular and kind of cute....other than the attitude this character gives it's mother...we skipped that page until The Kidlet is old enough to understand, that pig might be allowed to talk to her mother like that, but YOU are not a pig and I'm not raising you to be one.
So I gave you two hints.
Pig.
Girl.
TA DA!!!!
In other news we went biking for a bit yesterday with the cousin in tow, then dropped her off and continued our ride just the three of us. It rained on and off and was super blustery, which made for a tough ride TO Whole Foods but a nice quick ride FROM Whole Foods with the wind at our backs. It was beautiful. Dark grey, smatters of rain, gusting wind....sigh.
When we got home we made Indian food and played Scrabble....I love that man....I love that Kidlet. My life is pretty much extraordinary.
Can You Guess The Classic Children's Book?
Dress: Thrifted
Headband: Thrifted
Shoes: Thrifted
Socks: Target
White Collar: Thrifted doily
Bow Tie: Hand made.
If you guessed it then you win 10 awesome points! (if you haven't, scroll to the bottom)
No one but my awesome little sis was able to guess correctly (she's cool like that) and she, apparently, never even read the books when she was little. I guess it was more my thing and with the age difference it wasn't something that I would have still had out and about by the time she was old enough to appreciate it.
I couldn't comfortably spend the day with a yellow crown on my head so I substituted the velvet ribbon vintage headband I bought a couple weeks ago (WIN) nor do I have white spats.
(I HAVE spats, just not WHITE spats ;-))
So there you have it, my interpretation of a Royal Male Elephant's clothing made over for a common girl to wear every day. :-)
I have ideas for characters every day this week EXCEPT for Saturday. Soooo, if you can think of someone to suggest, please let me know. I'm currently stumped.
Lovies and leg warmers,
-K
